Discussions with the Fascia Masters – Block For Fitness

“I have been doing Block Therapy for 7 years. I joined one of the first Block Therapy classes taught by Deanna – my aunt – when I was 18 years old. This was right around the time I was preparing for my first bodybuilding competition. The results were immediate for me, from feeling the releases throughout my body, my breath felt more complete, and recovery from the gym was incredible quicker compared to the typical gym supplements I was previously consuming.
Initially, I thought it would be brilliant to create a Block for Bodybuilders program by simply integrating Block Therapy into my pre and post workout routine. Don’t get me wrong, it helps drastically for performance, aiding you to train in correct alignment, and recovery. I did create a program around this idea, but after continuing my Block practice over the years, and watching my training style change, I realized I needed to create something different. Bodybuilders are a fairly small market and niche. Majority of Blockers don’t need just a pre and post Block Therapy plan, they need to know how to train correctly, when it is ideal to Block in relation to working out, and a plan to follow. This was the idea of Block for Fitness.
The first phase of Block for Fitness is all about rebuilding your postural foundations. This is all done at home with the use of resistance bands and your Block. This phase will break down main exercises piece by piece so we know how to align and strengthen the body in correct alignment. The biggest mistake people can make is jumping into the gym, following an exercise programs, or doing any sort of exercise/fitness plan and training incorrectly… especially when our fascia is manipulating the correct biomechanics of the body. This will build your body more out of alignment and cause the fascia to become more dense.
You must complete the Block Therapy Starter Program prior to starting Phase 1. I will have you get into the exercise and feel if there are any restrictions, weaknesses or cramping. Once you have tested this out, there will be a suggested class below for you to follow that will help release this area to provide space and flow. Once the 30 minute class has been completed, you will then revisit the exercise and notice the differences. There will be a protocol and a mini workout for you to follow to help strengthen this area further.
This is the basis of Phase 1 – Rebuilding Your Postural Foundations. I will continually be adding more content, workouts, unique styles of training and new phases so we can all follow workouts that pertain to us. This will also give you the option to try new training styles that all have their unique benefit.“
