The ribcage is the home of the heart and lungs and it is designed to be incredibly strong to support these vital organs. Part of what makes it strong is its flexibility. It is the space between the ribs that gives it the ability to move and adapt with the freedom it needs to protect and serve.
Challenges arise when we don’t support the space. The diaphragm is the foundation to the ribcage, and without exercising this muscle and using it to breathe, it becomes weak and collapses into the core. This doesn’t only affect the heart and lungs, but also puts immense pressure into the abdomen, causing the belly to protrude, which affects digestion, elimination and causes issues with anxiety.
Another issue that arises when we don’t support the space in the ribs is dense breasts. The ribcage is the foundation for breast tissue. If it collapses, the breasts become squished, twisted and dense, creating more opportunities for disease to take hold.
Join Quinn and Deanna for this 3 part series as we focus on creating space in the ribcage, strengthening the diaphragm to support its foundation, and aligning the chest to provide flow and symmetry to the breast tissue.
