Why is it important to learn about the fascia system and care for it?
When it comes down to health, the fascia system is in control of pretty well everything... let me explain.
Fascia is the connective tissue that hold every one of our cells together. Due to surgery, injury and unconscious posture & breathing, restriction in our body form and adhere to anything in the way - including bone. These adhesions will pull the body out of alignment blocking cells from blood and oxygen flow, resulting in:
What makes it so hard for people to gain control of their fascia system comes down to not having the correct tools to release the fascia and a lack of knowledge and understanding of how to use the tools correctly.
Fascia can hold the body out of alignment with a force of up to 2000lbs per square inch. Stretching, massage and rolling are only scraping the surface of what is actually going on underneath.

We hear this all the time... and ultimately you're right, it is made from wood!
+ How is Block Therapy different than any other fascia modalities?
It all comes down to persuasion vs force.
Block Therapy persuades your tissue to melt and release. Your bodyweight and gravity with the pressure on the Block combined with proper diaphragmatic breathing causes the fascia to release.
There are other fascia methods that are popular that come from a forceful intension. By doing so, you are tearing the fascia which creates injury. This ultimately will result in the build up of scar tissue.
There are 3 things you need to do to make change in your body:
Adhesions in fascia block blood and oxygen flow to cells. For cells to be healthy they need to be properly fed and clean. Melting adhesions and creating space improve circulation and gives what they require to function optimally.
Oxygen is the #1 nutrient cells require to thrive. Education of proper diaphragmatic breathing (most notably the exhalation phase) is crucial in order to ensure each and every one of your 100 trillion cells are fed and clean.
Incorrect posture is a key factor in the development of the adhesions that block blood and oxygen flow to cells. Strengthening proper foundation to support the body maintains the necessary space.

About Deanna Hansen
Deanna Hansen is a Certified Athletic Therapist and founder of Fluid Isometrics™ and Block Therapy™, a bodywork practice that is meditation, exercise and therapy all in one. Deanna began her practice as an Athletic Therapist in 1995, always focusing on deep tissue work. She built up a thriving practice, as her strong hands could work out the deep knots in tissue. Unfortunately, as successful as her business was, Deanna’s physical health and mental wellbeing were eluding her.
In 2000, Deanna experienced a major breakthrough. Her large, heavy body stored much pain and she felt weighed down and depressed.
