Back to the Basics: Melting Adhesions and Releasing Restriction
Continued from Back to the Basics: Pain is Your Friend blog…
With Block Therapy, we focus on the connective tissue, called fascia. Fascia connects all the cells in the body. It holds everything together so it remains intact, aligned and functioning. The fascia is like the walls, floors and ceilings of a building. If something is not right in the foundation or structure, the building is no longer safe.
Theoretically, if every cell were in place, there would be no pain. Each cell would have all of its needs met and be content. It is when a cell becomes hungry, dirty, cold or fatigued that we sense its existence; pain is its way of crying for help. This is our internal alarm system. But if we don’t respond properly when the alarm sounds, the body suffers.
Pain occurs if a cell isn’t getting enough food. As oxygen is the most important nutrient, pain is a sure sign that we aren’t breathing properly. Proper breathing keeps cells alive and buoyant.
If a cell is deflated due to lack of oxygen, it compresses, becomes heavy, and requires additional support. If that support is absent, the tissue around it will develop false floors and walls to give it temporary assistance. The raw materials for these false floors and walls are delivered through inflammation, which occurs because the tissue is cold. The fats and minerals that were sent as material for cellular reconstruction become frozen. These are the adhesions that develop between the layers of fascia. They become a further barricade to blood and oxygen. On the upside, the adhesions hold the pain sensation, so finding the restricted tissue is simple. Just follow the path of pain.
Once compression occurs, energy cysts form and tissue torques into the body in a spiral fashion. As fascia gets sucked into our internal space, other tissue is outwardly displaced. The affected cells express themselves through pain. They are being pushed around and want you to know. If you don’t pay attention, they become exhausted. Eventually they don’t even have enough energy to complain, so they shut off.
Needless to say this is not a desirable state. Tissue shut off from the blood supply is heavy and burdensome to the body. It is an accumulation of the fascia without the life. As the shell protects the egg, the cell membrane protects the cellular contents. Cells deprived of blood are like a bunch of broken eggshells sitting on top of each other. Their mass and size are substantial. The density of these compressed membranes further restricts blood flow, causing more cells to shut down, cooling the area further, adding more mass and size, and so on.
To “melt” the adhesions that develop, we need to heat frozen tissue. I speak from experience. Before I discovered Fluid Isometrics, I was fifty pounds overweight carrying a lot of mass in my belly. I tried for years to “lose weight” with calorie reduction and extreme exercise. Even though I was “burning” more calories than I was ingesting, I was getting bigger. I was “frozen” in my tissue. It wasn’t until I began “melting” my tissue that my body started to change. The best part was that the results came quickly. I had spent years working hard with no benefit, and now suddenly something so simple and easy was creating rapid change. This is how I developed a different perspective on weight loss.

It is important to understand inflammation. Many believe inflammation is the root of all our physical suffering. However, inflammation, like pain, is a gift. It is the way the body responds to stress and is simply an increase in blood flow to an area where energy and raw materials are needed to repair damage. How could something so natural and healing cause us to suffer?

It all comes down to heating the body properly. This requires that the engine, the diaphragm, is strong and working well. Block Therapy is a simple, efficient way to achieve this and get the results; to empower us to change our shape, size, health and appearance.
If you are feeling stuck, in pain, frustrated and have lost hope in any way, try a persuasive approach to feed, heal and energize your body. That is what Block Therapy does; healing, exercise and meditation all built into a system that you do lying down, even on a bed. It’s okay to be comfortable and restful while you make changes.
