Today we are exploring the relationship between fascia and the aging process, offering a fresh perspective on aging gracefully. The common definition of aging is the visible process of growing older, primarily based on appearance - but we'd like to challenge that perception. Maintaining proper cell alignment is key to aging gracefully.
Aging is a highly individualized journey influenced by various factors, such as childhood experiences, trauma, posture, and breathing habits. Telomeres, which are protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, naturally shorten as cells divide, contributing to cellular aging. This shortening process may be linked to changes in cell alignment influenced by factors like gravity, posture, and breathing patterns over time. By consciously creating space within the body through correct alignment, breathing techniques, and addressing injuries and scar tissue, we might potentially slow down telomere shortening and even reverse certain aspects of the aging process.
At the core of this is the concept that each time our cells divide, the amount of available space within the body plays a critical role. Gravity, a constant force acting upon us, tends to compress our bodies over time if we're not conscious of our alignment. When our cells have ample space, there's no need for significant changes within them, including the length of telomeres, those protective caps at the ends of chromosomes that shorten with each cell division.
