Going With the Flow

When I first began understanding the immense beauty and connection of fascia, I was focused on the human body. I was awakened to how this system connects all cells first in my own body, with my hands. As I dove into my tissue, I could feel the flow, and how the grooves were created between the layers. These grooves represented the path of least resistance that my hands followed, which I later learned was the pattern represented by the Fibonacci sequence.

Everything in nature is created from this sequencing of numbers. 0 + 1 = 1, 1 + 1 = 2, 1 + 2 = 3, 2 + 3 = 5, 3 + 5 = 8, 5 + 8 = 13 . . .  This creates the spiral pattern that you see in the galaxies, the nautilus sea shells, the way water flows around a barricade, smoke leaving a pipe … it is how the human body develops, how it ages – there are no straight lines in nature. Energy flows in a wavelike pattern until it hits a barricade, at which time it begins to spiral, eventually turning into a chaotic pattern.

As I worked on my own body, for years I didn’t realize there was a pattern to what I was doing. I remember the first time I was sharing my technique with a therapist. She would ask ‘Why did you just do that with your hands?” At first, my answer was, “I am just going with the flow in the tissue.” She let me know that if I wanted to teach this, I would need to be able to explain this in a way that made logical sense.

At first this created anxiety as to me, at the time, this was a magical sensation. I had tapped into an energy that I followed with my hands. It wasn’t logical. I didn’t think it up and apply it, I responded to an unseen force within that created amazing changes to the health of the tissue. But now, I had a new mission. I needed to understand how to explain this if I wanted to be able to share this approach.

At the time, I had just experienced a huge failure in business. I had opened a clinic and made monumental mistakes that resulted in me accruing a huge debt. I owed people money, so I ended working 6 days a week for 8-10 hours per day in order to settle my debt. In the treatment room, it was dark with lighting only from a candle. Eyes closed, I would work on my client’s fascia and follow this path of least resistance.

At the same time, I was also opening my mind to understanding quantum physics. I was fascinated by these deeper truths and realized that the information I was learning could be applied to explaining what was going on in the body. In the book The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life by Drunvalo Malchizedek, I first read about the Fibonacci Sequence. Then 1 day while working on my client, I opened my eyes to see the pattern my hands were taking and recognized that it was in fact following this path.

What was interesting is that at first, I didn’t see a pattern as my hands were moving chaotically in the tissue. There didn’t seem to be any logic or reason that they took a certain approach, other than that this was where they were led. As I encountered a density, the path changed, and I would spiral around the area until it softened and gave way. Then once there was flow, my hands moved in a wavelike pattern until they found the next area of density. I was so excited when the realization hit me that this was what I had been reading about. When there are no obstructions to flow, the path is a wave, then it spirals and then the energy becomes chaotic. I was simply going in reverse with my hands, starting with the chaos.

To be continued …

Block Therapy – The Practice

Block Therapy is a self-care practice that is based on the concepts of fascia decompression. This journey began for me almost 25 years ago, and I am excited to share how it works. I first realized that the effects of gravity in our body could not only be managed, but reversed, by moving into the…

Fluid Isometrics and Fascia Unwinding

Block Therapy wasn’t the beginning of my journey. It started with intuitively using my hands on my body. As I tapped into the pain, I followed along, and noticed there was a specific path of least resistance. It felt like I was surfing, being carried by some unseen force as I glided through the tissue, connecting more deeply with every pass. I call this approach to unwinding fascia: Fluid Isometrics.
