Week 7 of the 90 Day Trauma Relief Program
We begin our next week of the 90 Day Block Therapy Trauma Program focusing on the lower body and connecting to a mental trauma that may have impacted you. This may be an idea you adopted that shattered your foundation, a memory that has physically impacted your ability to feel grounded or to move forward in life, or a belief about your body that is holding you back, or any other limiting belief that is getting in the way. You may have many that you want to release but see if you can connect to a trauma that you feel has kept you in a state of freeze.
For me, I am going to focus on an event that took me by surprise back in my twenties.
I was visiting my parents in Victoria, B.C. with my sister. We went on a hike and came upon a trestle. The bridge was above a beautiful canyon, with a plank midway so you could see the incredible view. Between the wooden boards was a significant space; enough to easily see the water below. We were high up, but I lived on the 15th floor of an apartment with a balcony, and I had no issue with heights . . . until this very moment.
I started walking toward the plank. As soon as I was far enough from the ledge and could see the rushing water below, my heart began to race, and I totally lost any power in my legs. I immediately fell to my knees and was paralyzed with fear. If a bear had been chasing me, I don’t think I would have been able to move. Hands clutching the boards, I was literally frozen. This was completely unexpected.
My sister and my mom came to help, and they literally had to take me by the hands and guide me as I shakily got to my feet and found my way off the trestle. Once I had a moment to regroup, my mind started to try to understand what just happened.
To this day, I can’t think of a moment or event where I would have brought this fear into my mind. At my apartment, I would be able to hang quite far over my balcony and had never experienced any kind of fear or issue. I have been able to get past this through sheer will and forcing myself to challenge myself when any opportunity arises, but my goal will be to get to the root of when this fear imbedded itself into my psyche.
What are you going to focus on this week to pull up to your conscious awareness so that you can work through the old wounds and create a deep level of healing?
On Day 4 of this week, the speaker we will be highlighting is Dr. Cathleen King. Her story is so profound, and I love that she was able to create a healing pathway for herself from personal experience, and then help so many along the way with her process. What she has healed from is truly remarkable.
Also, day 4 is the time to put the Block aside and treat yourself with loving kindness. You are guided to a meditation using your hands on your belly that will allow you to drift into a peaceful state, while still addressing adhesions in this area.
Remember, there are many layers that need to be released and repaired so be patient with yourself and stay connected to the community, so you feel safe and supported through the process.
